Chick flicks may have a reputation of being cliché and predictable, but no one can accuse them of not being fun.

Watching a chick flick is my favorite way to de-stress, and are great for when you just want to relax and not think about anything. Or for having fun movie nights and sleepovers with your girlfriends! Plus – with their cute fashion and even cuter guys… what’s not to love? Here’s a list of the top 10 best chick flicks if you are looking for some good fun and girly giggles.

My Top 10 Best Click Flicks Movies

Mean Girls (2004)

Lindsay Lohan, Rachel McAdams, Tina Fey

top 10 best chick flicks mean girlsMean Girls (buy DVD here) was a huge hit when it was released, and its witty one-liners are still quoted to this day (just log onto Twitter, especially on October 3rd). Comedian Tina Fey wrote the script, so as you can expect, it is hilarious. The plot: a girl born and raised in Africa moves back to the US and goes to public school for the first time, only to deal with “The Plastics”, a group of very popular but mean girls. And then, of course, she ends up becoming one. Oh, the drama!

Favorite quote: “That’s why her hair is so big. It’s full of secrets.”

Easy A (2010)

Emma Stone, Amanda Bynes, Penn Badgley

top 10 best chick flicks easy aEasy A (buy DVD here) was the role that made the world officially fall in love with the then-newcomer Emma Stone. Emma plays Olive, a girl who pretends to lose her virginity to her friend Brandon (who begs her to pretend to have sex with her so everyone would stop picking on him), and chaos (and tons of gossip) ensues in her high school, especially her conservative rival played by Amanda Bynes. Emma Stone really nailed it in this role and showed off her comedic skills.

Favorite quote: “Judy Blume should’ve prepared me for this.”

13 Going on 30 (2004)

Jennifer Garner, Mark Ruffalo, Judy Greer

top 10 best chick flicks 13 going on 3013 Going on 30 (buy DVD here) is about a 13-year-old girl frustrated with high school and “hates her life”, until she plays a game on her birthday and wakes up as a 30-year-old woman with seemingly everything she’s ever wanted: a Sports star boyfriend, an apartment in NYC, and job as editor of her favorite magazine. But what did it take to get to the top? This flick will take you back to your 13-year-old self where your days were spent with sleepovers, dressing up, dancing and thinking about boys. You are also guaranteed to fall in love with Mark Ruffalo’s character, the very sweet photographer Matt.

It’s A Boy Girl Thing (2006)

Samaire Armstrong, Kevin Zegers, Sharon Osbourn

top 10 best chick flicks its a boy girl thingIt’s A Boy Girl Thing (buy DVD here) is a fairly underrated chick flick that is just too cute. Basically, it’s like Freaky Friday – lovers edition! Two classmates who also happen to be next-door neighbors hate each other, and one day; find themselves in each other’s bodies. And of course, they start to fall in love. Totally predictable, but so adorable and funny; especially all the moments with one of the main characters’ best friend, Horse.

Favorite quote: [Nell eating oatmeal for the first time] “Ugh! People eat puke?”

How to Lose A Guy in 10 Days (2003)

Kate Hudson, Matthew McConaughey

top 10 best chick flicks how to lose a guy in 10 daysHow to Lose A Guy in 10 Days (buy DVD here) is set in the backdrop of New York City, fashion magazines, dogs and diamonds – need I say more? Oh and that yellow dress! It’s almost iconic in the chick flick universe. In a nutshell, writer Andie Anderson is a magazine writer working on a story about common mistakes women make in relationships that drive men away. She tests her findings on a poor suspecting guy; and Andie’s antics to try to ‘lose’ him are equal parts cringe worthy and hilarious. Somewhere in there, you can probably find some valuable dating advice!

A Walk to Remember (2002)

Mandy Moore, Shane West, Peter Coyote

top 10 best chick flicks a walk to rememberA Walk To Remember (buy DVD here) is about a bad boy who eventually falls for his good, Christian classmate who he (and his group of friends) have ignored and made fun. As you can imagine, gets a little messy, especially when the girl is the daughter of that town’s pastor, and also when she reveals a secret she’s been keeping from him. Not to mention, he now how to face his friends that he “ditched” for her. It’s a Nicholas Sparks film, so it’s seriously romantic – prepare to cry, baby.

Fave quote: “You have to promise you won’t fall in love with me.”

Bend It Like Beckham (2002)

Parminder Nagra, Keira Knightley, Jonathan Rhys Meyers

top 10 best chick flicks bend it like beckhamBend It Like Beckham (buy DVD here) is a British chick flick, and in my opinion is one of the most underrated – talk about Brit humor at its best! The story is of a daughter of orthodox Sikh who rebels against her parents’ traditional cultural beliefs and secretly plays football and then joins a women’s football team, even running off to Germany with her team. To top it all off, she ends up falling for her football coach, who is definitely not Indian, like her parents expect.

Favorite quote: “Lesbian? Her birthday’s in March. I thought she was a Pieces.”

She’s the Man (2006)

Amanda Bynes, Channing Tatum, Laura Ramsey

top 10 best chick flicks she's the manShe’s the Man (buy DVD here) is the second female soccer movie on the list – what is it about girl’s soccer that is so hilarious? This is Amanda Bynes’ best movie, in my opinion. A modern day re-telling of Twelfth Night by Shakespeare; Amanda pretends to be her twin brother and goes to his new school so she can play on an all-boys soccer team. As you can imagine, hilarity ensues; and you can catch Channing Tatum before he made it big.

Clueless (1995)

Alicia Silverstone, Stacey Dash, Brittany Murphy

top 10 best chick flicks cluelessClueless (buy DVD here) is “the” chick flick classic that is still being referenced to this day; inspiring everything from fashion to music. A parody of Jane Austen’s novel Emma, the movie is about Cher, a privileged, spoiled popular high school girl who lives a very superficial, clueless life. She finally finds a “project”; giving the new girl Tia, played by the late Brittany Murphy, a physical and social-status makeover. Cue the high school stereotypes, drama and all.

Favorite quote: “Ugh! As if!”

The Notebook (2004)

Ryan Gosling, Rachel McAdams, James Marsden

top 10 best chick flicks the notebookThe Notebook (buy DVD here). The plot is simple: Ryan Gosling plays the perfect man. OK, just kidding. Kinda. Again, is a movie based on a book by Nicolas Sparks, so you can only guess how much of a tear-jerker this movie is. In fact, this one beats them all – it’s regularly called the most romantic movie ever; and so romantic I only saw it once and that’s good enough for me! The story is as follows: Ryan Gosling is a charming, handsome young (poor) man who falls in love with a very rich girl; and problems ensue due to their social differences.

Favorite quote: “If you’re a bird, I’m a bird.”
